Our youngest daughter has struggled with intractable epilepsy for most of her life...many meds and many seizures. More recently the meds have not been working well at all, and the Dr's have had to intervene with stronger IV meds to stop them.
They've slowed them down some, and since other less-intrusive efforts haven't helped, it has led us to expedite a possible surgical solution - something we've hoped not to pursue. But, God is faithful and has her fully in His hands. And we trust Him as we have peace with this path forward.
Her first surgery is Friday to place a grid of electrodes on her brain surface in an effort to delineate the seizure onset, with the hopeful prayer of a second surgery days later to resect that part causing the seizures, without causing her any permanent neural or physical damage.
Please pray for Megan (and Kristen her surgeon) during these next few days, that the second surgery is a viable option, for protection, for healing, and for her life to be free of seizures.
God's Word says, "Faith is the substance of things Hoped for, the evidence of things unseen."
Although we cannot see with our human eyes her future, we place all our hope and trust in a Mighty God.
Please also pray these same things for another local family's daughter, Madison. Her first surgery was today.

Amen. Father God, Jesus took a horrible beating for Megan and Madison's healing. We ask according to Your Word that you heal and deliver both girls in the authority and righteousness of Jesus name.

Oh, Tim...
Truly, such a walk in Faith is only possible for those with devout trust in Him!
Prayers for His Will to be a successful series of such surgeries and full recovery for Megan (and her parents!)

Megan's 1st surgery (grid implant) went well, but she's been dealing with a lot of pain & swelling, and nausea from the pain meds. Her black rt eye had been swollen shut, but we are seeing less swelling in the head and face this pm.
No seiz activity to record yet-we think bc of the anesthesia & pain meds suppressing them-not a good thing at this point.
Pls pray for reduced pain & swelling, so reduced meds may help nausea, and that she will have mild seizure activity to record before time is up to have to remove grid.
---------------
Regarding Madison, her 1st surgery went well, and low in pain and swelling. She's had some seiz activity, but needs more. Pls pray for more mild seiz activity for her as well.
-
Amen, prayers for Gods loving mercy.

Absolutely will, Tim.
Prayers for your little girl's condition and strength for her parents and siblings as well!

Megan's swelling is way down, and her nausea is much less, but her head pain is still flaring up as pain meds wear off. She is finally eating well, and we have been waiting on seiz activity to occur for the grid to help localize their origin. We finally had one seiz early this morn after sleep depriving her, but the Dr's need to see several more to procede. Ironically, we ask for prayer for more seiz's at this time before we have to remove the grid for risk of infection. We will keep her up late again to help trigger some seiz's we hope.
-------------
Please pray for Madison and her parents, as they just were told her seizs were multi-focused or too deep to risk resection surgery. They are very disheartened, but strong in faith. Her grid was removed this am and she is in ICU overnite recovering.

Praying for both families and guidance for the docs.

Tough news on the "too deep siez" activity.
Thanks for allowing us to be a part of your prayer Team, Tim.
Keep us posted...and...

After several sleep-deprived nights, gratefully, she had multiple seiz's to record; unfortunately, they were very intense, very frequent, and continued for nine hours. The dr's could have helped her more in this by being more aggressive with the meds to stop them after they got the data needed. Still we are thankful for the data- it just cost Megan more than it should have in suffering.
Initial indications are the seiz originate in only one area (good news), but that their focus may be in a sensory or motor area, in which they could not resect (bad news). To know for sure, sensory and motor brain mapping is required, and is tentatively scheduled for Sunday.
Pls pray she is cognizant, rested and pain-free enough to do the mapping Sunday, because the grid is coming out one way or the other Monday. Pls also pray the actual seizure origin is outside the sensory and motor areas, so a resection is possible that will help her be seiz-free. May God's Will be done, we pray.
------------
Regarding Madison, she and her family made it home safely yesterday, and are resting, healing, and getting back to "their" normalcy. Pls lift them to the Lord for His healing and a well protected future as she catches up in school and fights her battles ahead.

Complicated situation, Tim.
Prayers indeed for today's work to be done and that all shows something that can be addressed... according to His Will.
Keep the Son in your eyes, Tim!

PRayers continue that all went well with continued mapping yesterday and the grid removal today.

Thanks for lifting us up brothers. Unfortunately, the mapping confirmed the seiz origin in her motor and sensory area, making resection surgery much too risky to pursue. So, she will have the grid removed today in surgery.
Please pray for a safe surgery and a quick recovery without infection in the next few weeks.
Thank you again for you prayers and know that we won't worry about tomorrow; God is already there. Tim

Still praying

Sorry the results weren't as hoped... but with Him there is always HOPE, Tim.
Prayers will continue for your li'l Girl to heal well, no infection and new results to be had thru other means...
Lord, in your Mercy...

This has not been an easy road, but like Doc says there is always Hope in Him, our Lord Jesus Christ- He may yet heal her from this terrible condition.
The grid removal surgery went as well as it could have, with much less pain than the first surgery. We got home last night late, and slept in our own beds. There is just something about finally being home with all of my family that gives some peace; His Holy Spirit's peace. I cannot imagine the peace that will be in heaven someday, but it will be more wonderful than this old world knows.
She woke up to seizures this morning, but had a better evening, and we are all still zombie-like from lack of sleep, but we are home.
Thank you Lord, and please give us rest, as we put our hope and trust in You.
-
Wishing you all strength and the Peace we seek.

Praying for one of HIS miracles for your li'l girl!
