As of today,I am officially out of bowhunting retirement. 1995 was my last season of bowhunting, due to a car wreck. For about 3 years an old buddy of mine has been trying to go back out.
I went with him last monday, had deer close enough to shoot, but no shot. Today we went out and they drove two deer past me from behind. They were running flat out,I was kneeling on the ground behind some brush..
I locked on the second one,and let the arrow go at full draw. It hit the deer,it was about 35 yards when I released, and it was down in less than 150 yards.(gotta love them snuffers). It turned out to be a button buck, which was ok because I had to shoot an antlerless deer first anyway.
I herby declare my rededication to traditional bowhunting. :campfire:
Congratulations, that sounds like a heck of a shot! Got pics?
Congrats. Some (not here) will dog you and the buttons but its still a trophy.
And about those pictures.... :saywhat:

I bet that felt awful good!
Congrats, and enjoy the tender eats.

Good for you!

Like they say, "can't keep a good man down"!
Thanks everyone. The only pic I have is me,the deer and my new buddy Noah. Noah was my guide today and he told me where I should sit. LOL.

I was glad to get a deer, but it kind of sureal in away. Something I thought I would never be able to do again. It's hard to explain, but I'm glad I went and now I want to go again.
Congrats Bill! Looks as if you had a good guide there! Mike
Dirty bill congrats glad your felling better.
Thanks everyone. :campfire:
Bill, I talked to Lee earlier and he told me you had connected. Congrats and glad to have you back. Steve
Well done and congrats on the release on "retirement" Gotta got back on the horse and it looks like you did it!
Welcome back to the field Bill. Glad to hear that you have slain your dragon.

Thanks Steve,I have always counted you as a close friend. Do I have any freebies coming? :campfire:
Bill, glad to hear you had so much fun. Really regret that I haven't been up to snuff to go along with you. If you think you're having fun now wait till summer and we start carp shooting. I know for a fact that Lee has got as much enjoyment out of this as you have. We all owe that man soo much. He is a great person and a wonderful man. People don't realize how much work and effort he puts into doing these deer hunts.
Looking foward to hunting with you. Brokenwing
Glad to hear of your success!!
Glad to hear your are a bowhunter once again!!!!!
Hey John,Get better man. Lee says it's the chemicals you work with? Any way I owe Lee more than he'll ever know. I've been replaying he two hunts in my head over and over...I keep... :bigsmyl: So you get better and we'll make some more hunting memories. Dirty Bill :campfire:
