Title: Best adhesive for swaged aluminums
Post by: TheArc on December 21, 2007, 04:04:00 PM
I received a half dozen swaged shafts in trade.  Now I want to put some snuffers and a judo head on them. I have Ferr-L-Tite and JD Weld. To those who use swaged arrows, what, in your experience, is the best adhesive?

Where did you get them swaged?  There was a white melt ferrule glue that was unbeatable, but Lamont at the Footed Shaft said it was outlawed because of the fumes.  One trick I read years ago is to rough up the shaft to give the glue something to hold on to.

They were swaged when I got them in trade. I will put some cross grain strokes on the shafts with a wire brush. Thanks for the suggestion.

My aluminum arrows are all swagged, I use ferrel tite. Make sure you clean the taper with 91% Isopropyl. Mikes Archery in Ironton OHio does my swagging, charges $10 per dz + shipping.

Phone number is 740-532-0142....

Thanks all. Joe, I'll do that. BTW, this may date me, I was at Yaz' first appearance in front of "The Green Monster" in '61 after The Splinter" retired. Boy did his high hands batting stance screw up a generation of New England kids!
