OK guys, when you use contrasting wood in a flare on a lam, what do ya glue with, smoothon or somethin else?
I'm talkin the two different woods in a single veneer lam.
Thanks,Kenny

Kenny I've used tb2, 2hr epoxy, and superglue. Liked tb2 the best. I use that to join to 36" lams together to make a 72" the same way
I cut my boards a little larger in width than what I want my lams to be.Then I will cut these and join my pieces together like I want them to be and clamp them all together.I use smoothon epoxy. Now after they have cured I have one piece to cut my lams from.I trim this board to the correct width and then slice off my lams.I then carry them to the drum sander and then sand them to thickness.I have sanded some of them down to .020 just to see what they can take before coming apart.Well they all have stayed together.I guess I should of went on down farther just to see where the point of failure would have been.
Thanks guys, exactly what I wanted to know!!
Kenny here's a build along that has some splicing info. Tgang build along (http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=40;t=000055)
