I want some new bibs and mabey jacket, want to give wool a try,but everything I find is really expensive, looking for something under $100
Try the Columbia Galatin range. Cabelas stock it. It's not 100% wool, something like a 65/35 wool/poly blend, but it's nice & snug!
Really should look at surplus stuff-cheaper than dirt and sosme **** offerings. Not camo'd but effective at keeping one warm!
Just bought two midweight wool shirts off of #%-bay even though they are not camo. I only paid $40 for the two shirts. I plan to wear lighter camo over them to get away from the bulkier clothes. Too many problems with string interference.

Ian,
Being as you live in La. and it isn't Sub Zero cold outside.....(although I DO understand that it gets COLD down there)
Go to the Good-Will store and get a few 100% wool sweaters.Layer 2 or 3 under your regular cotton camo and you will be warm as a toaster waffle
My legs never get cold so I rarely wear more than a pair of cotton camo jeans or cargo pants. However, I will layer my upper body with wool sweaters and cover them with a cotton camo shirt. The tight weaved cotton also acts as a wind stopper. Up here in the NorthEast,I can NEVER remember having to wear more than 3 sweaters, and I have never been really cold.(just a little chilly on a few occasions)
Here's a helpfull hint.....
If you possibly can, eliminate the cotton T-shirt and wear your first wool sweater against your bare skin.It will make a BIG differance if you start sweating as it will "wick" the sweat away from your skin. Also the "itchy" feeling stimulates blood flow to the skin.
Every thing that Chuck says plus, get a pair of US military surplus wool pants. I bought a pair at a flea market, the guy that had them was selling all sizes for $10.00 I just love them, i have wool bibs and pants that range in price from $200- $69.00 but for walking around stalking big and small game and stumping, those $10.00 pants cant be beat. I also wear surplus poly pro they wick moisture good and are cheap and in all but the coldest temps there warm also.
Keep an eye out on the Bass Pro web page. Last year they were selling the Gallatin wool bibs for about $70 at the end of the season. Sometimes you can find decent prices on Woolrich Camwoolflage at Sierra Outdoors as well. STeve
thanks guys, it does not get cold done here a lot, but it got in the low thirties last weekend, for me, thats cold!, thanks all for the advice, I think I'll wear my wool sweater under some camo
I own some Gander Mtn wool thats dirt cheap and warm to boot. The best thing is, it's very quiet (just don't get the stuff with the wind-breaker material)

I have and use the Columbia Gallatin series wool. I have the shirt-jacket and the bibs. For the price this stuff is great. I have had mine for five plus years and it holds up very well. Wool is the only way to go. Like Wissler said its very quiet and warm.
