This morning at 7:25, my grandfather, Pepaw (Lynn Hunt, aka: akalhunt) passed away. For those of you who know, he had been in a battle with lung cancer for the past few months.
The immediate family had gathered on June the 7th to celebrate his and my grandmother's wedding anniversary. He was strong, healthy, and was talking to his son about a bow he found online. He was very excited about it. He ended up purchasing it and sending it to my uncle's home to surprise him.
He had insisted that we celebrate a day early.
He seemed to know that it was almost time. The next day, he became very ill. He went to the hospital, and it was determined he had very little time left. We brought him home a few days later to live out the rest of his time.
He went in peace with his family around him. He wasn't in pain, and was strong until the end.
When he was recovering from lung surgery, he would make an effort to check the computer everyday. It was a kind of goal for him to get up and move a little each day and walk on his own to the desktop. He would not let his illness bring him down. I want to thank the community here for supporting him during this time.
He was a great man, strong in faith, and a true hero. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement. We all love and miss him very much.
His love of bows and archery will live on. He taught me how to shoot the bow at a young age. I have three he gave me. He taught everyone in the family who was interested: my uncle, his son, his other grandchildren. I know I will never forget and will continue to shoot at targets and will think of him everytime I shoot. How he taught me to hold it, how to aim it, how to take care of it. He even helped me make a bow from scratch. I know we will all remember how he taught us and will pass it on to our children.
Thank you all, so much.
Praying for God's comfort and Joy.
Any of us would be proud for a tribute of that magnitude! Incredible.
Such love and joy mixed in with the pain. I've been blessed to have read and shared in that snapshot of a person I'd not known.
Prayers for peace that passess all understanding for those who knew and loved Lynn Hunt!
Keep the Son in your eyes!
What a wonderful tribute to your grandfather - it sounds like he will live on in your hearts. Thank you.

It sounds like there is not much more to say...
I really hate to hear this. I bought a very nice bow from Lynn about two years ago, I'm looking at it now. It is an Ancient Spirits Sequoia, 45 @ 28. I have talked with Lynn on the phone a few times, often for an hour or more, he was so easy to carry on with. And the fact that he was constantly buying and selling bows in the weight range I shoot, and the fact that he lived here in Tennessee gave us somethings in common.
He was a super nice person and I'm really sorry to hear this. You are all in my thoughts and prayers today. I will always remember him when I shoot this bow. God bless you.
