I'm ready to try my first laminated bow, and have a few questions. I think I want to start with a simple clamp style bow form. Which do you folks prefer, the rubber band or c-clamp type? I am leaning towards the rubber clamping type with dowels along the length for wrapping the rubber strips. What tips can you folks give me. Maybe links to build-alongs? Photos of your forms? Any help is appreciated.
Apex,
Here is one of my favorate build alongs:

My advice? GO FOR IT! You'll love it and if you only build one, you will be the only one who has just built one. Lots of advice here on Tradgang, and it is easier and more satisfying than you could imagine!

Go with the air hose!! JMHO Good luck! PM sent...
You might try this. It is easy, cheap and that way you'll know if you want to invest in better set ups.

This bow is still one of my better shooting bows.
I made this build-along early this year. Maybe something to check-out?!

Apex,
The longbow I'm doing so well with here in Georgia, was made with a low cost set up to see if I liked making a bow before I sunk a bunch of money into it. Thus the name "El Cheapo". It was made with strings and wedges and turned out great. Search "PowWow" for "El Cheapo" in the title and you'll find a couple of threads on it.
If you hunt Chickasawhatchee with TBG in January, I could loan you the form, or at least bring it so you could look at it. Steve
