Title: Spray painting Limbs?
Post by: doublewhopper on December 17, 2007, 06:39:00 PM
For anyone that has any type of high gloss black fiberglass limbs, have you spray painted the limbs?  I just recently did this with my Bear Minuteman takedown because the limbs were way too shiny.  I bought krylon ultra flat camoflauge colors and did a camo pattern on them.  I think they really blend in well now.

Anyone else do this or got pics?

We build a bow we spray with camo paint we call "The Mountain Bow".The bow is very popular with bow hunters that dont want to worry about scratching thier fancy gloss finish.Yes,they do blend well in any woods.

if i have a bow with shiny limbs i use blackboard paint in green brown and black and it is cheap as chips and does a real fine job.

If your not sure you want the paint job to be final, I wax my bows first and then spray paint them.  The surface does scratch in the woods but it is easy to take off or just re-wax & re-spray.  You can see how it does scratch off on the top limb pictured...Doc

They used to sell removable camo paint in a kit.  It came with about 3 colors and a 4th can of remover.  I did paint one of my bows and the remover worked well and didn't damage the finish.  I think the brand name was Hunters Specialties.
