Title: Proper Broadhead storage?
Post by: crazynate on July 25, 2016, 05:14:00 PM
Hi guys I am new to trad gang. I love hunting with Bear razorheads and  my collection has gotten out of control. I have over 250 now and I keep most of them in Plano tackle trays and some on my bear archery display. Once every couple months I will wipe them down with a good oil to help with corrosion but it seems that not helping. How can I keep them looking great while they are in storage? Thanks a ton

Move to Arizona.

Welcome to Tradgang.

I really am clueless as things don't corrode much here in the southwest.

The best thing I know of is a product called Renaissance micro-crystalline wax polish. It is used by museums to preserve all kind of things from leather artifacts to metal and paintings, etc. it is very easy to use and works great.
it is made in England, here is their website

hope that helps, welcome to the gang...

That's what my wife says. 250 happened on accident. I live in MI and I find razorheads at sales all the time dirt cheap. If anything the next generation can have them, if they are not all using those air bows by then. I will try that renaissance wax polish. Thanks for he replys.

With that many heads moisture and air are the main reason for rust/tarnish. Submerge them in a bucket of clear light weight oil.

Either renaissance wax or a gun product called Rig.

I have about 40 or so. I have them in a plastic container and give the heads a good coating of vaseline. The inserts are in a smaller plastic container, and are just sprayed with silicon. Kept them that way for years...and I don't live in Arizona either.
