What's the center of your collection?
-
I'm down to 3 bows, so not much of a collection, but the 1965 Ben Pearson/Golden Sovereign no-serial-number custom lefty Lord/Lady/Hunter Mercury bow is most unusual. Shoots like a bazooka, too.

For me it is my 69' Ben Pearson Mercury Marauder td 60#@28". It is a very nice shooter to say it mildly.
-
My favorite piece was my 67 kodiak Hunter. Unfortunately the top limb just let go while shooting a few days ago. My coolest piece is probably my St Charles quiver. Tony Z

Don't be afraid to post a picture or two!!! :archer2:
-
Tony, are you kidding??? :scared:
-
My Favorite(s) right now are:
1968 Grizzly with 2 holes in the riser
1660 Kodiak
1965 Grizzly (check the classifieds)
They are the Bottom 3 on this rack

Charlie, all three good looking bows but that tigerwood 1968 Grizzly is a real looker!

Double-post

Kodiak Deluxe without question...sorry I gave up trying to post pictures here some time ago

Trap and I; with help from Wade and others collaborated on this one. Trap built the display and Wade Phillips, bowdoc and Jay St. Charles authenticated and cheered us on!
It almost succumbed to a bit of sandpaper!

My 69 Kodiak Hunter my dad gave me in 69 when I got home from the Marines, in 69. It was brand new and he saved it for me when he closed up the archery shop.
-
The one Grumley Deerslayer I have followed by a Dogleg Kodiak Mag Type one.
Both in excellent condition.
Another very interesting piece is a Belgium Carriage bow from the mid to late 1800's.
I have posted pictures of these numerous times and at this point it would be a bit redundant..... :knothead:
-
Jon, I had a '69 K Hunter, one of my all time best shooters.
-
I have a pair of 67.5 Super Kodiaks. One is 60" and 48#, the other 64" and 48#. Both in "perfect" condition. I'd post pic's if I could ever figure out Photo-bucket.
-
I have been pondering the question of which bow is my favorite for two weeks now, and have come to the conclusion that my bows are like my grandchildren, I really do not have a favorite. But I can say that I catch myself gazing at the rack that holds the 1959 through 1962 Kodiaks, Kodiak Specials, and Kodiak Deluxes the most. The 62 KS with the lively glass color and deep brown rosewood really grabs the eye. And to think, at one time I could not understand what Fred was thinking when he chose that color.
-
Brad, if I had a penny for every minute I've spent scanning the boards for a 62 KS in hunting weight, I could buy it if I find one. :D A truly distinct and handsome bow and a thoroughbred shooting machine.

Can I pick my favorite 3?
Ive had some pretty cool bows but my favorite collectibles are:
Top: Ben Pearson arrow with 6X7 Barbed Ben Pearson Broadhead
Middle: 1960 Northwoods Quiver with Hood
Bottom: St. Charles quiver owned by the late Sterling Harrell and signed by Glenn
-
TRAP that is pretty cool.
-
I'm a quiver fanatic. I love the old NFAA patch that adorns Sterling's quiver.
-
Very cool stuff here. I used to own a butcher block 1959 Grizzly that very well could take the cake for me.
I think the coolest bow I own is this 1967 62" Wing Thunderbird that I have learned is likely a prototype futurewood bow built right before Bob sold Wing. This bow absolutely smokes arrows. Nothing classic I have owned compares. I am going to have it refinished a bit and hunt it.

Most guys would thing this should be my prize. I am the second owner of this bow. I bought it locally here. It's really a dream bow for sure. I have an original stabilizer and the catalog the original owner got when he bought it. He bought it in 1970 though and the catalog is a '70

Mangonboat - that BP is very cool. It looks like a shooter for sure!
Hopefully some other guys will post soon and they are just trying to determine the coolest of the cool bows they own!
-
an osage selfbow with slight flipping of tips made by Joe Mattingly and given to me as a gift just before he passed. RIP Joe.

Colin, bow porn is bad enough, but LEFTY bow porn! You're killing me! Those two are as good as it gets.
When Head Ski took over, did they run production on a 62" Futurewood T-bird? I've never seen one.
-
Ron,
That selfbow is priceless. It too would be my prized possession.
Mark,
This thread talks about the Thunderbird I own. It's not in the best shape, but man it shoots and Kelly described it as likely a prototype and "one rare bird"
My goal is to hunt that bow this fall

Here are some of my bows that are readily available for pics. I have been collecting for awhile, I have 35-40 bows. I have been cherry picking them, many were never shot pieces, not anymore! I really like bear Tijumins, Wing archery, pearsons, hell I like em all! I really like target bows. Hope you enjoy

I have 2 of Bob Swinehart's elephant broadheads. He was the first guy to kill Africa's Big 5 with a bow ( Howard Hill didn't get a rhino) It doesn't get much cooler than that for me!
-
That's pretty cool, do you have a pic of the Broadheads?
-
I can't post a pic on here from my phone. I can email or text a pic to someone if they could post it here. I made a display with one of the elephant heads, a dead head and a Hill head. Swinehart used all 3 on the big 5. Lion, leopard and buff with a deadhead. Rhino with a Hill head.
-
My favorite is my 67-1/2 super kodiak. Such a pretty bow and a real nice shooter too.
-
Jack Howard Supreme Target bow... only two known to exist.
-
I have a 10" Detroit Archers patch I like a lot. Only one that I know of in existence is owned by Johnny Razorhead. Just an odd item. Actually got it on here from a very generous trad gang member. Mine are my 56 & 60 Kodiak Specials. I like how the Silver turns to pea soup green. Both shoot well.

My most prized was my mint '58 Kodiak until I picked up a '59 Kodiak last week.
-
Without a doubt, my '69 HC300 Tamerlane.

I have an old Ben Pearson longbow. It was depicted in a 1942 catalog that I once saw, but I don't really know what year it was built. It was owned by my wife's great uncle. I also have a 1959 Wing Redwing Hunter in very nice condition. My first HHA bow is a Wesley Special that was my first custom bow. Also, I have a Northern Mist Shelton that was custom built for me. The one that still holds first place on my list is an inexpensive Ben Pearson Gamester recurve, which was the first bow I owned, and I killed my first deer ever with it.
