Picked these up the other day.Took them to a person that I was confident could get me close as to what these heads are.He said that they were ancient & that they were made of bronze. He said probabily date to around 400 AD...I wanted to post here to see if any of you trad gangers new of anyone that knows what I have here. They came from Isreal.I believe my friend but it would be nice to have someone with a lot of knowelege on these ancient heads. There were pieces of a ring & misc jewelery + the 25 or so heads that came with the bunch..I'm going to attempt to post pics. Thanks Rick (http://i680.photobucket.com/albums/vv166/renos53/000_0632_1.jpg) (http://s680.photobucket.com/user/renos53/media/000_0632_1.jpg.html) (http://i680.photobucket.com/albums/vv166/renos53/000_0633_1.jpg) (http://s680.photobucket.com/user/renos53/media/000_0633_1.jpg.html)

The actually should be way older if they are bronze . The Bronze Age in the Middle East had been over for more than a thousand years by 400 AD.

That is why I posted on the trad gang....I looked them up on line & the arrowheads that looked close to these were from Afghanistan & dated from between the 5th & 7th century BC.I would like to get these to someone who would appreciate them....Thanks for the response...Rick

I'm a bit surprised that they are socketed and not tanged. It would take much better casting to get that head!

Not sure.I know nothing about these things except what I've told you.I purchased them in an antique store in Hillsdale Mi. The owner of the shop told me that a friend of his braught them back from Isreal..There is a long pointed implement of some sort & a piece of a ring with an emblem on it.It looks to me like an old roman spear head thats about half there.Probabily made of iron or copper..all the heads are different lengths...I can only imagin someone digging these thing up in Isreal....

You can find these in antique stores around the Mediterranean coast. Pretty much everybody used them in that time period and they are pretty common in stores in that region. The Persians, Greeks, Assyrians, slung them everywhere. I saw some for sale when I was in Israel last year working, I can get them cheaper at a Pawn shop here in town. They are cool, though. There are a lot of stone points from there, also.

Looks like Roman trilobals with a Scythian/Parthian in there. Bronze heads were made in such bulk they were in use a long time-plus the Bronze Age lasted quite a while.
Not all heads were tanged back then, and some grew tangs later in evolution.
