MY friend has a Kodiak that is 64" long and 48#. With a serial number DC523. It looks like the 59 but longer length. Any ideas when it was made? Thanks for your help

The prefix DC was used on 1959, 64" Kodiaks so it may well be a '59. A picture would enable an accurate date as I'm not sure that 1959 was the only year that the DC prefix was used. Serial numbers are a very unreliable way to try to date a Bear bow unless you are dealing with 1965-1969 bows.

Thank you

It will either be a 1959 or a 1960 bow...pretty simple to tell the difference...black and white fiberglass overlay and tips and it is a 60...anything else and it is a 59...you might wish to check out a couple of my earlier threads on 1960 Kodiaks...just do a search for threads that I started...there are not a lot...btw 1959 and 1960 bows were both made in 56, 60 and 64 inch lengths...my 64 inch Kodiak Deluxe is one of the very nicest shooters I have owned
