Post by: lbows on January 18, 2015, 10:12:00 AM
Hi guys

I have a Bear Grizzly, 56" and 50# the serial number is 9R10186. Can anyone help me on the year it was made?

Yeah, what he said. So that you know he knows whereof he speaks, here's a widely cited resource on the subject (even flattered from time to time by plagiarism or a failure to attribute it properly ...)

Collecting Items of the Bear Archery Company (http://www.stickbow.com/stickbow/Collector/beararchery/)

BTW, I sold a '68 in that length and 48# a few months ago. It's my sincere hope the new owner is enjoying it as much as I miss it. That's a handy length and a good shooter.

In the 1969 Bear Archery Catalog it states " Riser Wood: Shedua" "Glass Color: Forest Green" "56" Catalog No. 2961".

I have a '68 in Tigerwood - Bear only made the 56" Grizzly in 1968, 1969, and 1970.

The bow is in very good shape, what might it be worth. The guy that owns it wants to sell it to me.

In very good shape, $150 is a very fair price, maybe a little bit under what could be had in an online auction but not a whole lot. (This assumes there are no holes whatsoever in it, filled or not.)
