I just picked up a Bear Kodiak magnum in really nice shape. Does not appear to be refinished, although I think the rug and strike plate are new. I know pictures help a lot, but it's dark and my flash pics don't normally come out all that good.
The s/n is KU-01002. It's AMO 52" and 50# with green stained maple riser and narrow blue vertical stripe. The limbs are dark green glass back and belly.
It has a raised bear of what appears to be pewter (or pewter colored anyway)and has the Kodiak Magnum decal on the belly.
1972 maybe?
76 perhaps!! Pictures would make all the difference...
has the stained maple overlays and tips?
If it has a white overlay on the back of the riser 73-75. Futurewood 76-77. The medallion is plastic actually and has a square beg on the back that fits into a round hole drilled into the riser.
Thanks guys. I'll get some pics up today.
That "bear" emblem may well be plastic, but I tried cutting the edge with a sharp knife and it's sure harder than any plastic I know.
Here's some pics

I have been told you can identify the years 1973-75 by the location of the stabilizer bushing in the riser. If that is true yours would be a 1975.
You can insert two razor blades under the edges of the medallion and pry it up with equal pressure on each side. Believe me though it is plastic.
I'm kind of curious, why would you want to remove the medallion?
Frank,
I've taken the medallions out to remove crud around them and then polished them with braso before putting them back in.
Those medalions are plastic but they are chrome plated. Dont have a clue how they chrome plate plastic though.
Yep '73-75. I have one just like it only 5#s less. Also mine is right handed. Bearbowman can make a real purty string for it.
Thanks Jack that makes sence
Thanks to all of you for the help.
I'll take your word for the medallion being plastic, Jack. I have no desire to remove it.
I didn't buy this one as a collectible. I figured I ought to have at least one "man's bow" to go with my mid-40# bows. It doesn't stack badly at my draw, but I do notice I'm drawing a few pounds more :) It should make a really good "hunter".
Now you need a green Kodiak hunter to keep this one company! :)
Now you're confusing "needs" and "wants". :)
Are they not the same!! :p I get confused easy!!
Nice bow you have there............
It's easy. I know what my "wants" are and my wife tells me what my "needs" are. No confusion here at all :(

I like everything about that bow.
