I recently purchased this bow from the big auction site and am trying to figure out the brand and model. It was sold as a Root but don't think it is. Maybe Ernie Root designed it, but I'm thinking it is a Shakespeare bow. If anyone can help confirm the make and model, I would appreciate it. There is not a decal on the bow and I suspect it has been refinished. Nice older bow though. I got it for a thirteen year old left handed friend and would like to be able to tell him what it is. Many thanks!

FYI, I found out it's a Root Rover.....circa early to mid 60s.
-
Yes it is a Root Rover. Made the same from 1963 till 1971. Different wood from year to year and most years had with glass.

Bearmagtd, this riser looks like cheery. Do you know what year Root used cherry for the riser?
Did they come with feather rests or did someone change this one?
Thanks for the help.

Most of the cataloges list it as exotic inported hardwood, in most cases this was shedua or bubinga. The higher end models had East Indian rosewood and East Indian laurel.Your riser looks look shedua to me as it is just a little more red then the bubinga. The early years had rock maple and black walnut. Some years early with more maple, then early 60's more walnut.Your Rover became the X-132 in the Shakespeare line up afteer Root was sold.
