Just picked up a nice 58" Howatt Hunter. There was a thread back in 2010 on the topic of Howatt ever making 58" Hunters in addition to the popular 62". Bottom line consensus was "yes" as several tradgangers said they had one or knew of one and it seemed they were probably made from around 76 to 81. My SN is HH6320 which I presume makes it a 1976. Anyone else have any further info on their history? Brace height? Been using 7- 3/4". Great bow.
-
Never knew of the 58" one. Post a pic if you get a chance.
-
I will take some pics an try to post.
-
I learn something new every day!
Thank you for sharing. PM me if you have issues posting pictures. You can email or text them and I will post them. I would like to see the bow. Pretty neat, even though I personally feel 62" is a great length.

I have a early Howatt Mamba Hunter 60"--#44 I will be posting on tradgang calssifieds tomorrow.or as soon as I can get my camera back...Just a heads up to Howatt collectors.Hope this is not out of line.

I always say that none of us know it all, but collectively we pretty much got it covered.
Even us old farts can learn something here. I just did.
-
I can relate to ol farts. This one cannot post pics so have asked ceme 24 to help. Pics include one of my 62" Hunter with the 58". Was also a similar thread in sep/oct 2012. At that time poodlehead and Kip also had 58" Hunters. Great shooter.
-
I still have mine 1975 I believe but Joe Lasch took 5-lbs. off to make it 50@28" originally 55@28 since I became an old fart.I killed a few deer with it used it until 2000 when I bought a Bob Lee takedown.Kip

Here are a few pics of Harry's 58" Hunter...I am going to have to pick up a 62" Hunter some day. My current all time favorite bows are the 62" Grizzlys. I guess I owe it to Howatt to try out the Hunter.
Great bows here Harry! A couple are with a 62" Hunter for comparison

Thanks for posting pics. also luv the 62 Grizzly

I wonder how this 58" Hunter would compare to the 58" Mamba?
-
I posed the question on another site yesterday and got the attention of Larry Hatfield...beginning to appear that is somehow a High Speed or Mamba that was improperly labeled

That makes the most sense D Dave, thanks.
-
D Dave I ordered a 58" Howatt Hunter and a 62" Hunter direct from the factory in 1975 or 76 and sold the 62" to a customer and kept the 58" as my hunting bow.On a thread a few years ago I believe Larry Hatfield did say the were made for 5-years and not a miss label.Kip

Thanks for that information...living in a time where record keeping with back up is a given it is interesting to rely on recall

Thanks all for your input and comments. Glad to hear they are real. luv it.

I've got a 58" Hunter, made in 78 I believe (bought new in 1980 by me) - and I distinctly remember that thread a few years ago where Larry confirmed that the 58" Hunter was it's own bow, a shortened Hunter, and not a re-labeled High-Speed or Mamba.
