Saw a bow on Craigslist,
Listed as a 1964 Kodiak, 60" bow.
Interesting: Serial Number shows 3CL 110, but there appears to be an X through it?
Is that something someone did on purpose.. I hope its not a dumb question.
Thank you
Could that "X" really be a star stamped over the serial? Bear did stamp some bows that had belmishes with a star. In addition, some "seconds" were stamped with a "2" or "22".
I've had Bears with both these marks, but really never had an issue with any of them. I believe bows with serious problems were most likely destroyed at the factory.
BTW, those '64 Kodiaks are great shooters and very popular with most folks who like Bears.
Many great 64's had a "+" stamp. The plus stamp means nobody refinished it to scam you! :)
The 64s are second to none.
Though I think pretty plain in appearance, the '64 was the first of the Kodiaks to have that classic appearance of the Super Kodiak which came along in '67.
Many like its speed and "thunk"...and I do too, and Tony's "second to none" description lets you know what some think of this model.
Bear bow prices are down now, so let's hope you do not have to pay the $400-$500 price they were demanding a few years ago. IMO, A nice original one in a popular weight should be no more than $200-$250.
Good descriptions above. It will shoot just fine if you like those model years.

The 1964 Kodiak is a nice bow; but there is a bow in the new classifieds you need to look at!
