Title: How do I brighten up the overlays and tips on my 69 Super K
Post by: david janssen on September 21, 2013, 07:46:00 PM
I have a beautiful 69 Super K but the white overlays on the riser and limb tips have yellowed. Is there a way to whiten them up with out a major refinish??

Thanks,
David

Light buff with 0000 steel wool. Follow with good quality buffing compound applied by hand. Finish with good car polish.

You may be able to lighten the yellowing by light sanding but you'll need to remove the finish if you want to make the overlays white. You can tape off the area, sand the overlays and refinish those areas.
