Post by: Robert Marvin on August 13, 2013, 10:30:00 PM
Would someone please post a photo of the appropriate bow quiver for a type A handle?

Not sure what you mean "appropriate".  Do you mean a Bear quiver?  From a particular year?  For me this is a Great Northern on a B handle.  Not a Bear but it works great.

The most recognizable is the bolt on Bear quiver that has a spring arm on the top and attaches to the insert screw on the bottom.  There were 4 and 8 arrow models made.

If you do a search you'll find more on this topic.  Here is one old thread with a photo.

Robert,
Do not get the bolt on leather top without a spring arm! They tend to turn and gauge the wood as they have little points to ensure lock down. Had a few 57 Kodiaks with wood , and leather messed up from that style; because they can spin. Would hate to see a type one messed up.

Bear also had an 8 arrow quiver that mounts just like the great northern.  Solid mount and doesn't mar up the finish like a spring arm does.

They did Jack but Robert was looking for something close in years to the 1970.  The quiver that mounts on two inserts came along later.

Haven't talked with you in some time.  I hope you are well.

Hey Phil.

Well was the red stripe in the picture original with the top and bottom riser bolt mounts?  If so, what was the top bolt to be used for?

Not sure I follow.  I showed that photo of the red stripe because I thought Robert was looking for any quiver.  Turns out he was looking for a quiver from the 1970 era.  The early Takedowns didn't have two inserts.  They had the bottom insert only.

During the time the green stripe was made they started using two inserts.  Some models had even more inserts for a Kwikee Quiver too.  Looked liked swiss cheese on that side of the riser.
