Having heard from numerous folks and owning and seeing some myself, the quality of Bear bows is excellent. Naturally there may be some that get past the final inspection that maybe have some minor flaws but the folks building the bows are doing a fantastic job.

I agree...Bear bows are much improved generally speaking. Their backlog in orders is certainly not due to inferior quality.

Thanks I was thinking of looking at them again. Jim little

I bought a new 64" Grayling Green SK last fall. Previously, I have owned several vintage Sk's over the years, in both 60" & 64" lengths. I'll give the 'bad' about the new SK first. The bow I received had an exceptionally thick sight-window--so much so that I couldn't get an arrow to fly out of it decently. Placing an arrow on the string resulted in the arrow pointing off in a somewhat exaggerated angle. The good; the bow was beautiful and very smooth to pull. The finish and glue lines were very good-certainly nothing to complain about. The grip was very nice and seemed to fit me just fine, I don't recall feeling it felt much different than a vintage SK grip. The green glass and bubinga with white overlays looked great together. I really felt that the new SK looked as good as the early versions. I returned mine and unfortunately the dealer was out of stock to replace it so I took a refund. Even though the one I received had a problem, I certainly wouldn't hesitate to buy another when the time comes. I have to admit though that I have always been an SK fan when it comes to 1 piece recurves-although the new 59'er looks tempting (just wish it was 64").

They don't use the nicer gloss finished anymore. I think the quality is good however.

Jim
How much are they going for now?

Hey Jack they are $ 619.00 for the GG sk

I have ordered one new bow from Bear last year. It was a B handle with the wrong glass that was Red accent instead of white. The clear coat started chipping right away, and some other minor issues I didn't like about the handle finish below the clear coat. I traded that handle off after hunting season was over. Personally would look for a used SK from Grayling era. I am not one of the new "Bear Bashers" because I can tell you that customer service is back where it should be. I just didn't care for my new bow, and will likely stick with the old from now on. The old ones are cheaper and quality is still there. Downfall to the old is No FF string.

Thanks all to all that replied

Not exactly answering your question but at Denton Hill I shot the new 59er then the 64" Super K. While I love the looks of both, the Super K felt a little sluggish after the 59er.
