I placed an add where I work for recurves and longbows WTB (we have our own intranet trading post) and was contacted about this bow. Please pardon the pics.

The bow's owner is the son of a Firefighter where I work and is a disabled vet. I want to give him a fair price for the bow. The box in the pic is the original shipping box from Bear Archery in Grayling to the hardware store where it was bought (Greensboro, NC). The bow is marked 53# @ 30".
I was guessing a buyer would pay $125-150 retail. I did notice in the pics slight discoloring near and beside the coin. The coin is slightly raised above flush, according to the owner, who has been completely forthcoming with the description. It has a feather rest, not the rug and sideplate. No string. Unk if limbs twist is present. Unk about stress cracks. He bought it from the original buyer's widow and was going to shoot it/hunt with it but may have changed his mind.
Am I off on the price?
I hope to do a hands on look at it soon. My interest lies in the box/bow combo. I am not a RH shooter but thought this might be cool to have. I want to do right by the seller who is a vet who served us well. If I decide to buy, that is.

That seems like a fair price. Ask about any stress in the limbs.

That looks just like my two 59 Polars. They have an ibeam and one of mine that i bought from Coicasso, has a beatiful rosewood ibeam sight window. The other one has some other type of wood but looks nice too. They are good shooting bows.

Looks like the same red glass as my 59 Panda had...I would not be surprised if it is a 59...you are actually probably a bit high on the price in today's market...the Polars are great bows that have just never commanded much in the way of prices...I just sold two very nice 1963 Polars for 300 dollars and they are bubinga riser with a zebrawood i-beam

He's set on $150. If it were a lefty and it passed my hands-on inspection I might go $150. Not as a righty though. I hope he gets what he wants.
I'm eyeing a LH Hill style in the classifieds now. Dang this addiction!!

Great shooting bows! But I agree that in today's market he's a little high. I wouldn't go that high for a lefty. I still own a RH version and do keep my eyes open for a lefty though.

Those are great shooting bows, I have a 61, which has a slightly longer handle. The asking price is not unreasonable, its just on the higher end of "reasonable".

I hope he'll bring it to our trad shoot in Burlington Aug 17th. I think he might get some interest. If he brings it, I'll make a string for him.
