Hello my friends!!! Today, my son Tyler & I went "Bowhunting" LOL!!!
We hit one of the local "few times a year" HUGE flea markets. We were quite sucessful!!!!! I picked up a 52" Shakespear "Sierra" 50# recurve for $20, and another bow that I just couldn't walk past! (probly should have, more on that later, LOL) It was a left hand, Victor Patriot target bow. 66" 35# @ 28" in near perfect condition!!!!! (with a few MAJOR modifications)
This bow has no stress cracks, no finish crazing, and no scuffs or scratches that I can see!!! HOWEVER... It looks to me like the previous owner/shooter took off what was I believe was a sight window sight/bristol rest and installed a plain plastic cover plate in it's place. Installed a cushion plunger in the factory bushing, and applied some other type of rest which is missing. (you can see what appears to be epoxy glue, where the rest had been) Then..... Horror of HORRORS!!!!! Drilled to small holes on the back of the sight window and installed a Killian "Chek-it" mounting bracket!!!!! It had a "stick-on" bowsling which I removed when I gave her a warm soap&water sponge bath.
Can anyone give me info about this bow??? It looks to have been a premier target bow in it's time!!!!! Are there bristol rest sight plates available for these anymore??? If so, where can I get one?
I'm not left handed, and will probly end up selling it but... I'm really thinking about keeping it, LMAO!!! It's really a BEAUTIFUL Bow!!!!!
As it so happened... while I was looking at this bow & hagleing over the price... A gentleman down the isle was "paying the man" for a beautiful, pristine condition Kodiak with cream colored glass!!!!! Probly shoulda kept walking, LOL!!!!!
Many Thanks, My Friends!!! woodchucker

Well friends, I looked around for a brush rest/side plate, but no luck finding one...
Today, I removed the Chek-it sight bracket, and got a good look at the 2 small wood screw holes... Not that bad, only about 1/16" diameter. I'll probly try & fill them in. I removed the cushion plunger, and put on a velcro rug rest & strike plate. At least now,the old girl is shootable!!!
Still doesn't really help me,Lmao!!! I'm right handed, and honestly only a "passable" shot at best!!!!! But, I think I'll keep her around for awhile & try to shoot her. She's just too pretty to leave on the wall...
Many Thanks, for your help!!!!! woodchucker
