Title: 1965 kodiak grip/shelf
Post by: DawgDoc on May 08, 2013, 02:32:00 PM
Got a question for you guys who restore/refinish old bows. I have what I would consider a "shooter" 1965 kodiak. It has a couple of plugged holes and has been refinished professionally. Its probably one of my favorite bows to shoot/hunt with. The only problem is the grip feels like a 2x4. When I had it refinished I asked them to reshape the grip to something more like an older Bighorn but they didn't hardly take any off the grip or shelf. I really want this grip/shelf made much better a possibly similar to a "Fred's grip". Who should I send this bow too? What's usally the cost involved?

There's a bow restoration thread just a few topics down that covers this rather well.

You should be able to do the work yourself and save some time and money.  There's also a lot of self-satisfaction from the project as well.
