Title: Pearson Ambusher
Post by: paoliguy on April 08, 2013, 01:04:00 PM
My son had been wanting a Bear SUperMag 48. We happened across a VERY similar looking bow this weekend at the KY Tradfest. It was a Ben Pearson Ambusher. After a bit of trading it's now my son's Ambusher.
I had never heard of this bow, does anyone know any history behind it?
Thanks, Mark B

I believe made in the early to mid 70's but that is about all I can tell you.

It "may" indeed be a Bear, as Bear made some bows for Pearson. This was common, for large bow companys to subcontract with each other, or with Sears, etc.
Anyhow, your son has a great bow to shoot & hunt with!

Bear Archery never made the Pearson Ambusher. Ben Pearson did. A 70's era short hunting recurve to compete with the Bear Super-mag and K-mag. I have a Pearson Mach One which is similar but 52". For what it's worth, I think these short Pearsons are better shooters than the Bear shorties. JMO.

I agree with mahantango. Not made by Bear and 1970's. And probably better shooting as well.

Seems to have appeared in '72 but short lived as does not appear in the '73 catalogue.

Thanks for the info, I had never seen or heard of one before. He is very happy with it, it's a real shooter.
