What year bows were the boys shooting in "The oldest game"? Not a collectors question, but how long will Bear continue to make the new Kodiak 59s, cause I have to save money. Has anyone heard how long the wait is?

I've read that "The oldest Game" was filmed in 1962. It is my favorite Fred Bear Film. I would assume the bows were of that year. I would guess that Fred shot a new bow every year till he built his take down. Most of those films were "sales" films, promoting all the Bear Archery products. I always laugh when I see him throw his bow up in the brush on the creek bank or throw the bow out of the way when he is about to field dress an animal. Maybe some people that know more about Fred will chime in on this thread.

Yeah , who cares I can have as many bows I want! I want a new 59, and the 1959 catalogue is $59 for a new one. To bad the new ones don't o for $13......

Thats my favorite film of them all too! I get a kick, too, I see him throw his bow up in the brush on the creek bank or use it as an extra walking stick when crossing a river. Thanks for the post...I've always wondered about the year, and figured it would be the early sixties. That K Mag was a brand spanking new design then when this was filmed?

Just looked on my Bear Archery catalog CD, and
"The Oldest Game" shows up in the 1962 catalog so it was probably filmed in 1961.It also says it will not be available till mid 1962. You could rent the films from Bear Archery for $5.00.

I got a new Kodiak '59 from Big Jim. My total wait time was only about 3 weeks. I must have timed it just right!. Love the bow, by the way!

All I got to do is sell one more bow and I can place my order! Emailed Big Jim, they said about six weeks. That's not bad.

Good luck on the '59 Chris. I shot one at K-Zoo and they are a pretty bow. I would assume the wait from 3-rivers is just as long?
