I got ahold of a 1951 Bear Kodiak static recurve. It is a real man's bow. 64" and 75lbs!It is in great shape with straight limbs and the orginal leather grip is in good condition. One of the tips had the dark liminate come off on the very tip,but this is mainly cosmetic and won't affect the shootabiilty of the bow.
I have always wanted to start a collection of old archery gear and I'm curious what the value of this bow might be.

I got a '51 off the auction site about a year ago for $100 if that is any indication. I don't believe all of the '51s had a aluminum lam. Does yours?

It does not have the aluminum lamb. Glass on both sides. There are couple of great articles on the web that date these well. It's probably not worth alot but sure looks cool. I haven't seen many of these older bows that were that heavy.
Wish I still had my first bow, a 1969 Kodiak Magnum. Made the mistake of loaning it out, never got it back.

Yes, that heavy of weight isn't all that common. Yours sounds like a '52.
The 69 Kodiak Magnums seem pretty plentiful so you shouldn't have that much trouble replacing yours. I had five from that year at one time.
