Title: Chester Stevenson
Post by: Jon Stewart on February 05, 2013, 11:51:00 AM
Weather is real nasty here in Michigan so I am confined to the man cave reading thru old 40's, 50's and 60's Archery and Bowhunter magazines.

In doing so, Editor Roy Hoff is doing a series of articles on Chester  Stevenson of Eugene, Oregon.  Mr. Hoff used Mr. Stevenson's name in the same sentence as Pope and Young for taking game and being a tackle maker.  There are several photo's of Mr. Stevenson and his MAN CAVE.  He had many hand made back quivers with arrows, bows and old photo's.  Was wondering if anyone knows about this person and if his archery items have been preserved and placed in a museum.

Try to get a copy of "From the Den of the Old Bowhunter".  It is a nice hardback book that is a collection of Stevenson's writings which mostly appeared in archery magazines back in the day.  Very talented man indeed.

Not looking for a book although it looks like an interesting read.  I was just wondering if all the "stuff" in the picture you posted was in a museum or preserved in some other way.

The book is awesome reading. You will be done with it way too fast and will be asking for more.

Dave Doran from Archery Past has displayed some of these items at the ABCC meetings.
The arrows on the left are from many well know bowhunters of the past.
Here's a picture of Chet's "Snakey" bow and "Snakey" arrow on the right side of display. This was from the ABCC annual meeting in 2005 in Colorado
