As mentione in my other post about the Bear arrow, I am putting together a hunting outfit for the year I was born, 1963. Another item I would like to acquire is the knife, file, stone set that was available then.
Thanks,
Chuck

Those knife sets can be real pricy.

There is a Sponser here somewhere that makes a nice repro useing the Western knife.
A quick look and I just don't see him. Perhaps someone can dig it up for you....
-
Yeah Ron, you are right. I owned and traded or sold several over the years, including two in real nice original boxes. Oh well... Seemed like a good idea when i sold them. Now im looking and probably going to pay full freight.
-
Thanks Larry, I'm kind of looking for an original set. I know a good repro would be just as serviceable, but I'm kind of trying to stick with the theme of original. Sounds kind of silly perhaps, but that's what I'm looking to do. Thanks though. Regards, Chuck

Can't fault you there. Good Luck on your search!! I see them on the big auction site but as stated above they go high......
-
Yukon, not silly at all! I myself want all original. picked one of those sets up this fall late night on the big site. I am very happy I had the money at the time as it was a steal. Very hesitant any time I think of flipping it. They are much more compact and nicer than i originally thought. Wish you the best of luck.

Chuck, I have a complete set, albeit rather WELL used looking! I guarantee it's original, as I bought it new back when. Probably in the late 60's, but I don't think they changed much. Western knife, file with brown colored plastic handle with raised "BEAR" in script. All pretty much, as I said, looking well used. Sheath is not falling apart, but has been restiched at the bottom of the stone pocket. Let me know if you're interested.

Shane, that's just flat out naughty!

By the way, if you want to go the whole nine yards, contact Rob at Classic Bowman Sporting Woolens for a Grousehaven shirt. I love mine.
-
Ray, sorry man. Lol I want to get one of those when I have a few extra dollars. Would love to find a Replica Grousehaven patch if there is such a thing to place on it.

Due to Will being so helpful I now have my Bowhunters Knife set with me here in Scotland .
As you can I have had the sheath treated which has softened the aged leather and I've polished and sharpened the knife so now everything looks a million dollars and I couldn't be happier.
My question now is that all the other pictures I have seen of sets have the narrower thicker Norton stone , my set has this flatter , wider unbranded stone . The set was bought new in the late 60's by Will , so no question of it not being original. It is hard to see but the sheath has the bear script logo on the belt loop.
I just wondered if anyone else has seen a set like this and can perhaps tell me anything more about it .
Thanks again
Paul
