Title: Zebrawood Grizzly
Post by: DDyer on February 01, 2013, 04:41:00 PM
I have 2 zebrawood grizzlies. The serial #s are 5P4246 and 5P4484 which I believe makes them both 1965's ? Thing is they seem different. The lower # has what seems to be a smaller and slightly different grip and silver coin. The higher serial# has a stabilizer insert and a more rounded grip and brass coin.I had read that they changed the grips some after 1965. Did they change the Grizzly in the middle of that year?

I have a dozen or so 64-65 Grizzlies and I've never noticed much difference in the grips. The 66 Grizzly has a noticeably larger grip so possibly the one with the larger grip could have been produced at the end of the 65 model year and utilized the new form. Stranger things have happened at the factory. The stabilizer bushing wasn't standard until 1971 but could have been special ordered prior to that. I once had a 66 Kodiak Magnum with a factory bushing.
