I was sanding my longbow limbs down tonight and cutting in my string groves. I got things pretty well in tiller and cut my self at the wrong line. I cut it at little higher then the center of the bow. After I figure out that I messed up I took some smooth-on and mixed a little up and put it in the saw cut. What do you guys think, can it be saved or is it fire wood. I layed out my handle and the cut it self would be a 1/4 inch into my handle. Any help or ideas would be great. Thanks Don :banghead:
Finish the bow out.You may have to adjust the length by shortening the bow and retillering. The cut is not repairable and will always be a weak spot. You can still save the bow. If it is too short for you ,then make it a Christmas gift for somebody. Overcoming mistakes is part of the bow building challenge.-Dave
