I've seen a few of these 56" Kodiaks from 1959 (mostly on this forum) and many tend to be of lighter weight (under 50#). Some show the weight at draw lengths of 24"-26" making me think Bear was marketing these shorter bows for the lady or young archer.
How common is it to find this short Kodiak in weights of over 50#?

The catalog says the 56" 1959 kodiak was available in weights of 25 to 60#. I would think it was made for the youth/lady market as well as the hunting weights for those with shorter draw lengths.

The 56" Kodiak bows were made for shorter draw length.
ie; 26".
I have 2 over 50#. One is 57# and the other 55#.
But yes, in my experience, most I've encountered are under 50#.
