Nick - those are sweet!  

The sculpted riser lines, beautiful wood and great shooting characteristics of the early 60's Howatts really make me have split loyalties with them and my Bears!

You sure have some spectacular bows Nick - thanks for taking the time to post about them.

Great looking couple! I love myself those old DH with that incredible Brazilian Rosewood. What about the serial# on the HS?

Beautiful wood in both. I thought the Hi-speed had great wood color and grain til I saw the Hunter!

Larry Hatfield has said that was the best glass he ever worked with...3M rather quickly decided it was not worth marketing the small quantities that Archery industry used...My 1962 Kodiak Magnum has that same glass with zero stress lines

Very nice bows...I have some information on when they were made.

Your Hunter is a 1963 and your Hi-Speed is actually a 1961.

The third letter suffix after HH or HS is what designates the year it was built between 1961 and 1967.

The designators from 1961 to 1967 are 7, V, X, S, T  and A.

This is true for all models of Howatt's.
