Robert Berry started building bows in 1961 until Herters went under in 1981

Thanks, I just picked up a real sweet 52"er.  It has a 46" string.  The bow looks brand new and shoots real nice.  It's 47# @ 28" and flings an arrow.  Real happy with it.

There are Herters bows that pre-date 1961.  I have a 1959 model.

Herters sold bows in the 50's and most were the CV models. I don't have any other info than that. I am sure someone else does.

I shared a hunting camp with Bob Barrie in Colorado mule deer hunt a number of years ago.  Real nice guy, quiet the inventor, his brain is always thinking of a "better way".
