I just got a new to me 67 Kodiak Hunter Factory Camo

One thing right off of interest to me is the Tip overlays appear to be black instead of white?
The catalog gives says "with full white caps and tip accents" ???
Does anyone know anything about the use Black accents?
-
I believe 1968 was the year they had black caps on the tips and reser front.
-
Steve,
1969 was the year that some had the black tips and riser overlay. But not all. I've never seen a 67 with them before.
I've owned a bunch of Kodiak Hunters and the only two that were factory camo were also 1967s.

Nice bow! I love the '67's!
-
Thanks Jack, I have a tendencey to mix things up. In any case nice find.
-
Thanks Cookus
Jack; that was my understanding too, 67 & 68 white tips, 69 Black tips? So this one has me a little puzzled.
-
Pack animal,
Is it possible someone re-did the lettering and it's actually a '69? Did you measure it to see if it is 58"?
-
Jack
Yep it is 58". I also noticed the top of the sight window is sharper corner on the 67 (http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/ac60/Pack-animal/IMAG5656.jpg)
The top of the bottom limb is also sharper. (http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/ac60/Pack-animal/IMAG5657.jpg) The shape of the bottom limb is also different (http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/ac60/Pack-animal/IMAG5655.jpg)
I noticed the biggest difference when I looked at the curl in the limb (http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/ac60/Pack-animal/IMAG5659.jpg)
I'm pretty sure it's not a 69
The numbers don't look to be have been altered.

Must just be one of those rare or one of a kind type bows. Great find!
-
Bruce - I just picked up a 67 K Hunter with the typical white tips and greenish glass. The bow's biggest selling point is the wood - this one is zebrawood!
-
Cool Tony, that really makes me wonder what is under the paint on mine???
And Jack your comment really makes me hesitate to think about stripping the bow down to see. I have to admit when I bought it I fully intended to strip it down,( I like the wood not the camo). But now knowing it may be a rare oddity...I don't know...
-
Strip the ugly camo paint off and you will appreciate the beautiful woods beneath and if it's an odd ball bow, all the better.
Collectibility will not be harmed in my opinion on your bow.
If you left it as is, what would its dollar value be?
If you stripped the ugly camo and put a fresh finish on it, what would its dollar value be?
It would not be much different but you will now have a bow you like much better.
Note:
Some factory camo bows were painted to hide cosmetic flaws and one never knows what lies beneath......

Wow, does that bow look sweet!
There's no camo that's as pretty as that....

The factory camo's usually don't do much for me either but I like original too. In the past I tried selling a couple extra factory camo bows and didn't have any luck until I removed the camo. They were bows that were already altered in one way or another. Had quiver or sight holes as I remember. Could have been easy to cover up with camo paint I guess but they still wouldn't have been worth any more.
-
Strip it.
Thousands were made.
-
Personally, I'd like to find a '67 camoed since I already have a pretty '67 KH and Grizzly (Thanks Jack and Charlie)! But... To each their own! Buried treasure or...cover-up as Jack pointed out... Roll the dice.
-
Once upon a time it had a brand new Fullerplast finish. Once the dirty scuffed-up camo overcoat was scrubbed off, it looks like it just came off the inspector's bench.
Great job!

Jeeez :deadhorse:
That bow isn't stripped down yet!!!!!
