I picked up a bow tonight. I am pretty sure its a 1960 Kodiak. I am pretty elated since I had been looking for one for a long time. ended up driving an hour and 20 minutes tonight. The guy had it listed as a 1953 kodiak, his picture told me otherwise    :readit:      :goldtooth:
It is 60", is that common?  I thought they were usually a little longer?
I'll post Pictures when I have time.

				I have a 60" '60 Charlie. Nice bows.
Congrats

Yes, many are 60"; they came in 3 lengths: 56", 60", and 64". You got a pic for us?

				Charlie,
Congratulations on the find. can't wait to see pictures.
Joe

Mine is 60" also.  Great bow!

I will have pictures for you once I get home with enough light to get outside pictures.
Thank you for the input.
I had been looking for one of these bows (59-62) for 3 years.  My Goal was to find one for sale either through a  garage sale or local listing/auction!  This was a local listing and the guy (very nice) was aging and had health issues. he was using a compound and was just granted a permit for an X bow due to his health issues.
I'm still on cloud 9.
Now comes the decision on wether to refinish or not,. IMHO its a good problem to have.  ;)

				Can't wait to see it........

I was a race against fading light but  snapped a few pics.

It has a Silver Coin for inquiring minds.

				Good looking '60 there

That grip looks awesome. I need to pay some attention to these, it looks like a shooter! Thanks Charlie.

				Congrats Charlie,
Beautiful bow.

				You LUCKY Dog!!!!! LOL
Talk about steppin' in it Charlie... Maybe you should take tomorrow off and go hunting!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

				Gorgeous!

				Nickel/silver coin.
I wouldn't refinish it.
That's a beauty.
Congrats !!!!

Looks like you got a good one......may have to hunt that old girl....lol!

Nice bow!  Will clean up to be a really special one!  In my estimation, the '60 Kodiak is the best Bear ever.  And, 60" is the best length.  A lot of us would go a long way for that bow.  Good for you.

Charlie - I agree with Daryl.....this one should not be refinished.  Pretty nice shape.
You can try what I recommended in the email on the limbs.
Congrats again......great bow.

That bow has some nice age patina. I definintly would not refinish it. A good scrubbing and some wax will do wonders. Good find for you!    :)

				  nice one.

Thanks for the input guys and also all the nice words.
I wasn't as concerned with "refinishing" as I was about "protecting" it.
Ron,  If I can shoot it, I will hunt it!  from the feel of it in my hand, I am quite sure it will shoot just fine for me.

Nice bow Charlie! She's a beaut!

Nice find Charlie, that's a real beauty, you'll enjoy that one.

				Great bow!

Just a heads up to Bear collectors.
I relisted a 1960 Deluxe for trade in the classifieds if interested.
Thanks in advance........Philip

OK, this thing cleaned up well. I had a rest from Trap that I put on.
It shoots good but was wondering if someone can recommend a starting brace height. I have it at 7 1/2 but think it needs more.
what works for others here?

Ok looks like through a search most people like a higher brace.
Between 8-8 1/2. I'll try that.

				Charlie,
My '60 shoots best for me right at a hair under 8" - so I think you are in the ballpark - and with a little tweeking you will have a fine shooting (and of course looking) bow     :bigsmyl:

I have twin to that bow sort of.  I lent it to my nephew and his log home burned.  It didn't totally burn but its jet black and beyond repair. :^(
