I ran into a longbow that had 45# stamped on it and the initials F.B. No other markings on the bow. The bow had a white colored material, maybe glass on the back of the bow.
What might F. B. mean. The guy was asking $40.00 for the bow and I passed on it.
Woodcraft Equipment in Missouri made longbows for York Archery in the 40's. They had stamped specs and I believe FB stood for fiber-backed. Might be one of these?
Around 1942 York Archery Equipment manufactured superior quality lemonwood flat bows and long bows.
Flat bows were made of select Lemonwood and backed with either white or black fibre. They were marked FB-56 - 5 1/2 ft. 20 to 55 lbs. pull or FB-53 - 5 1/4 ft. 15 to 36 lbs. pull.
