I'm wanting to get a blackwidow recurve but what model. How about some pros and cons of each model and what is your personal choice

Best suggestion is do not rely on others opinions when it comes to bow selection. The bow one guy likes, another hates. I sell bows and I tell all of my customers, do not buy until you shoot one first.
I once wanted to buy a Widow SAG. I was lucky enough to be able to drive to Widow, I shot the SAG, did not like it was well as I thought. I shot a TF and was very impressed. Now, a few years later, I like the PSR the best. Bottom line........shoot before you buy or you may regret it.

I think you said it yourself...its a personal choice. I like the MA recurves partly because they shoot very well and partly because when I was younger they were the bow an aspiring young hunter longed to have. I can picture that BW ad with an MA graybark leaning against a tree, catwhiskers on the string. Its a classic piece of the past that lives on today, albeit with some phenolic revisions. The SA and TF are nice too, but for me the MA will always be the measuring stick (pun intended). :)

bowfisher, SRTA is right, that being said I had a PSAIII and I can not imagine a better bow. I liked the shorter riser, I could use a longer limb. I really like the PSA alot. But I do have a one pc anniversary bow on order, it has the same dimensions as a PSA but in a 1 pc 60 inch bow.

BW has a program that allows you to try out a bow for a week or so, and all you end up paying are the shipping charges (they charge your credit card for the bow and then credit it when you return it). The bow they send you is not the bow you will buy, as it comes out of a stock of bows they have made up for different purposes. So it may not be the exact weight you want but will be the style you're interested in and close on the weight. This program is a good deal, when you think of the money a new bow costs.

well I'm wanting a bow that is manuverable but yet does not stack with a larger sight window. I would like it in a take down.

The PMA has a large sight window and has a longer riser than a PSA. I have a 58 inch PSA and 2 PSR's. The PSR's are light weight, some people like the PSA's and PMA's due to their hevier mass weight. I have a 25 1/2 inch draw and really like my short 54 inch long PSR for treestand hunting. I had a used 47 lb 2006 PSR takedown that I sold in December to fund a new 10 lb heavier 56 inch PSR 1 piece. The new (2 piece)locket-socket takedown system is awesome. you can call Black Widow 417-725-3113 and talk with Vernon, he will help you out.

I just got a PSA 60" 53# bow and I love it. The other guys said it best though, try their different styles. The PSA allows for slightly more manuvering soley because it's handle is designed shorter than the PMA. Not to knock the PMA or anything, I just would feel better having a 58" or 60" bow in the PSA rather than in the PMA which is better for longer limbs and draws. Both have great speed and everything you look for in a bow but I'm a bowhunter more than a target shooter so I like the shorter bow for hunting. They also have even shorter take downs in a different style, the PSR which is remarkably shorter and fits even better in a ground blind or treestand. My PSA fits fine in most ground blinds and at my 28 inch draw works great anywhere. The choice is yours, just try before you buy!!

Well, I have 5 of them, all SA or PSA series. I like those bows because they have a fair amount of mass and are a bit heavier than most other bows. For me, that helps my bow arm stay on terget. Others think the MA's and SA's are too heavy and like the SR series. I think ya gotta go to a couple of the big shoots where BW has a booth set up, or go with the try before ya buy gig.
If you buy a PSA or PMA, I can guarantee they will not stack. I draw 29 to 30 inches, depending on how stretched out I get but they absolutely do not stack at 30 inches of draw. Period. Can't say about the PSR's as I haven't shot one, nor have I shot a TF model.

my dad has a MA series and I love the feel of the handle but he is a lefty so I can't shoot it I love the fact that you can but different limbs and weights so you can use it for different apps

I just got a PSAX Bocote. I will be shooting it tomorrow and will let you know how it feels.

They are great bows. I did the test drive on a PSAV and was very impressed. Once you get where you are leaning toward a certain model, I'd suggest the test drive program.

I have a psav takedown in ironwood, and totally love it. its 51 @ 28 and shoots a 500 grain arrow in the 180's. Quiet and smooth.

I just got my new widow (MAlll 62" 61@30 1/4) I also live in s.e. Ohio ,if you live close you are more than welcome to try mine. You will not find better group of fellows to deal with than those widow boy's. I live close to the widow man if your looking for a used 1,he is also good guy to deal with.
