Title: Dating late 50's - early 60's Grizzly
Post by: TBinMN on September 04, 2012, 05:43:00 PM
I just picked up a real nice 59 or 60 Grizzly - I have not received it yet and the pictures didn't show the limbs good enough for me to tell which it is yet.  It is also missing the coin - so I'll be asking around for an original that someone would be willing to part with eventually. I got a nice deal on it and I like how all of the late 50's and early 60's shoot - so I bought it without knowing for sure.
How do you tell the difference between 59 and 60?

Thanks,
Terry

I've always thought the 59 had the double chevron on the handle while the 60 had a single. Recently I have been told that isn't cut in stone but the 59 will have paper micarta tips while the 60 will have phenolic. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will come along and post.

Jack's comments are correct. Also most '59s have a SWEET little grip, while the '60s are more bulbous.
