Title: Kodiak or Super Kodiak
Post by: Widow's Son on August 14, 2012, 09:42:00 PM
I've been shooting my two vintage Bears trying to get ready for the bow season opener Sept 15. My '66 Kodiak is 52# and I love the way it shoots and the speed of the arrow. My '69/70 model Super K isn't as fast at 45# but it is my best shooting bow. I just love the shape and feel of the grip on that Super K. I normally just use the Super K for target practice and to work on my form but doggoneit I think I may just end up hunting with it this year. Do all Bear Super Ks have the same shape grip? If so I may just have to pick up an old Super K in 50-55#s. I just love those old Graying Bears.

No, they are not all the same. I own quite a few of them from '66-76, and there are subtle differences in all of them. It's one of the things that makes collecting and shooting them interesting. You probably won't find one you don't like, but you may find a few you like better ! Have fun.

I made the desicion to go vintage this year. The '66 Kodiak will probably be number 1 with the 69/70 Super K a close 2nd. I was able to score some nice (I hope) vintage Bear arrows with tan Bear razorheads that I plan on using. The weather has been nice the last week or so and I've shot so much my shoulders and fingers are sore. Looking forward to getting out there with those old Bears.
