Title: Help with 59 Grizzly

Hello guys I think I have a 1959 Grizzly? I don't know much about the older Bears but from what I have read I believe this is what I have. I am a little confused because the bow doesn't have a coin in the riser. It is a 62 inch and 42@28. Is there any way I can find out what I have? I also wanted to know if the stress cracks are normal for these bows it only has a few, and the bow is in real nice shape. I also wanted to ask what arrow you think would work. I shoot a 29 inch alum but am having a little trouble with arrow flight. ANY INFO MANY THANKS!!

The easiest difference is on the lower part of the riser. The '59 has the additional chevron stripe.

Great pictures Bob. I'm thinking stick hunter's is either a very early '59 without the medallion or a earlier model year.

Looks like a couple pics are from Todd Hill.

Stick, I have a 42lb '59, two 40lb '59's and a '60 in 30lbs.

I have varied arrow lengths, but in all my old light Bears, GrizzlyStick Sitka's work great. In the 40-42lbs, full length and around 85grs works well or perhaps cut off an inch or so to add more weight. In the 30lb, full length with 150-170gr depending on the string.

I probably should get different arrows for the 30lb, but I only use it for practice and for kids to use.

Here's a pic of some of mine, but it's not a close up. The 30lb 1960 is the 4th up from the bottom with the dark grip and light sight window, but make sure you count the Owl bow on the bottom of the rack...

Thanks guys! these aren't fastflight compatible correct? arter seeing the pics mine is a 59 with the double chevron without the coin.

Im no expert but from what ive read a lot of older Bear bows have the stress cracks in the limbs.  Also, I believe '59 was the first year Bear used coins in the riser and some of the earlier '59s didnt get the coin added. Have fun with it...
