Title: rest on Martin Savannah
Post by: Oliverstacy on December 14, 2007, 02:32:00 AM
When I bought my Savannah this February I set it up the way it said to in the directions with the spacer under the leather rest.  I was wondering if I could remove this piece of leather?  Would removing the spacer change much?  It would move the arrow closer to center, which would stiffen my arrow.  I'm getting good flight but just thought it was time to truly start experimenting.

I like the looks and feel of a calf hair rest and might put one on the bow without the spacer.

It is #50 @ 28 drawn to around 29.5" and I shoot Beman MFX 500 Classics cut to 30.5" with 125 grain points.

I have some Velcro material I might try first and see.

Thanks in advance.

If you're getting good flight, why would you want to change ??

the longer you keep the same set up the better you'll shoot.

I'm new but have shot 4-5 times a week since Feb. with current set-up.  If I don't try different things I'm never going to know if I'll shot it better.  I'm getting good groups out to 18 or so yards but I just thought to change it up a bit...nothing says if it doesn't work that I can't go back.  Luckly the rests are cheap and can be changed quickly.

Just a thought...sometimes the grass isn't greener on the other side but sometimes it is.

Good point about if it ain't broke don't don't fix it.

The purpose of the piece of leather under the shelf is to give you better fletching clearance. If installed right it shoudn't change how close to center your arrow is on the bow. The idea is to make a small troth for the fletch to pass threw. It should be towards the outside of the shelf.
