Title: What to use when rewriting Ser# for restoring??

I have refinished my 66 Kodiak and need to rewrite the Ser#,wondered what everyone uses,pen,sharpie?

I tried a Prismacolor brand gold marker but as soon as I put some wipe-on poly on it the Ser# disappeared.

David,
 you have to let it dry several days before adding the wipe-on poly..I bought a can of the spray-on poly and just misted it several times with lots of drying time in between, then went back over it with the wipe-on poly..Roy

Hi David: My retirement hobby is refinishing bows. Sometimes you have to eliminate the old writing. I always take a photo of the old before sanding it so I can pratice "forgery" when rewriting the old information.
I have spent a LOT of money on different pens. Even the good Japanese gold pens blot and have too thick a line.
Al Reader once told me that Bear Grayling folks wrote over gold foil which I have tried without good success.
Then I discovered that the Wilson Bros (now Black Widow) used Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph technical pens. They are expensive but are the best. They come in different diameters and you can get black, white and yellow ink. They don't have gold ink so yellow is closest. The .35 mm diameter is a good all-around diameter with which to start. Could be just me But I find the sharpies fade with time even after misting over. I have had several bows I remarked after changes in the #'s and fine line cresting on some arrows that I ended up having to redo. I try not to use them now.
