After a lot of testing with my bow. I have concluded that a 175 grain tip works best with my set up. I have carbon arrows with a brass insert. I am looking for advice on how to tip my arrows with a broadhead set up that will be 175 grains. Brand names will be appreciated as I am fairly new to the Traditional game.
Thank you for the help in advance.
Hi Bill,
I bought Grizzly 145 Gr heads and used 30 Gr inserts to make total weight 175Grs. They fly like darts from my 62"46#@28" recurve. The same arrows fly equaly as well from my new Turkey Creek longbow that is 62" 45# @ 28".
Grizzly sarent very expensive and are easy enought to get shaving sharp.
Depending on what type of broadhead you want to shoot, you can change the weight of the broadhead adapter like I do, and I can shoot anywhere from a 150 grain Broadhead to a 285 grain head depending on what adapter I have glued in to it. If you want to use commercially sharpened type heads like the Magnus stinger, Muzzy Phantom, etc.. I believe your options are more limited. Just my 2 cents. Mark
magnus 145gr with a 30 grain broadhead adapter for two blade and a 175 grain rAZORCAP FOR A THREE BLADE darn caps lock
I had a look though my 3Rivers catalog and he lists a number of 100 grain broadheads you could use like the Magnus 2 or the 100 gr Grizzly in combination with a 75 gr steel adapter .
Have you considered more weight up front Extreme Forward of Centre is critical for best arrow performance Could I also refer you to Dr Ed Ashby's broadhead penatration study posted on this website and his post today - Penatration and Traditional broadheads . regards Jacko
How about a 160gr LandShark with 15gr weight washer behind?
125 GR.WW w/long aluminum adapter comes out right at 170 grs.
I use Zwickey Delta 135/42 grn long alum adapter. After glueup and sharpening, they go tween 175 and 180. For deer sized game, they work great, for larger,I would go with a steel insert......
160 grain Snffer and a short BH adapter(25grains) after ya sharpen them up they will right on the money. They are also easy tro sharpen if ya buy the snuffer tamer sharpening kit. Shawn
I agree on the 160 gr. Landshark. My understanding is you had better get them while you can.
I shoot the 2-blade Zwickey Eskimos, which is 125 gr, glued on a 42 gr long insert. The head, including the glue, is 170-175 gr. They fly great and provide extreme penetration.

Jacko, thanks for that. I have read it and I am trying to keep it in mind as best as I can.
