I believe the use of a finger joint shaper bit is involved in the formation of a blank that is then cut to expose the "pierce point" design.

Brandan Stahl did a great tutorial on making Pierce points.  I cant find in on the net anymore.  its basically joining two pieces of contrasting woods with a tall finger joint on a diagonal.  I am missing soemthing else in the equasion but cant remember what it is.  i have been wanting to try it for a duck call.  Maybe we can talk Brandon into posting the tutorial again.

Thank you for taking the time to do this Brandon!

I understood how to do this before, but every time I've tried to explain it to someone, they don't understand how you get some of the points to show and some don't. It's all in how it's glued up. The points are naturally exposed when the riser is shaped.
