A friend gave me his 67 1/2 all black Super Kodiak (with orginal case)yesterday. His cancer treatments has taken its toll on him and he can't pull it back anymore. It is a 60#er and I can't draw it either but maybe one of my grandkids can. Here is the problem. He or someone else filed handle and the shelf to put a curve in the shelf. Site holes on the front and backside of the riser and 4 quiver holes on the side of the riser. The bow looks to have straight limbs and two surface cracks in the limbs. Would this bow be worth putting in the hands of Bow Doc or Droptine to have cleaned up. I am not sure what I am going to do with it. If it was lighter draw weight I would use it. Thanks for your thoughts.

I would send it out to one of the refinish guy's on here, get the custom Fred Bear style shelf and grip..the holes plugged and a nice finish and hang onto it in memory of your friend, if you pass it down in the family make sure to give them the story on your hunting buddy

I am sorry for the circumstances for which you obtained the bow. That is however, the most sought after of the Super Kodiaks and a great shooting bow to boot. I think that it is worth fixing, the holes and limb cracks are pretty common but the biggest problem area are separations at the laminations inbetween the riser and the "horns" , inspect this area closely before anyone tries to shoot it. A lot of people radius the shelves and it doesn't seem to affect value if done properly. I'm not an expert, this is the info that I received from others concerning my 67.5, which I love btw... Great bow and please post pics if you have them!

I own a 67 SK, it was my Grandfather's bow. I would not trade it for a new one. I actually think that the old Grayling Bear bows out perform and are definitely smoother and quieter than the new Bear line.

Jon.....x3 what 459marlin said. Terribly sorry as well as to the way you recieved it. I think one of the bow repair guys will help that highly coveted 67.5 SK and breath the proper life into it. Make sure whichever of the lucky grandchildren get it that they know the pedigree of the highly sought after 67.7 SK . Good luck amigo.....john

P.S., I own one of these in 44 pounds...it it a smooth shooting bow...my son will own one day as well....john
