Title: Carroll's Bow....???
Post by: don kauss on March 14, 2012, 10:00:00 PM
Can anyone tell me anything about this bow? It belongs to a friend of mine, and I have never seen anything quite like it...
it's a 34# 68" target bow...
the decal photo is blurry, but might still help...the upper limb has a decal that says "Lewis", and the lower says MFG BY C.A.P.

I know that there was a broadhead named Carroll's, and wondered if this was the same company? I can't find anything on it...

thanks!

That is a Carroll's recurve. Made in Utah in the early 70's.  They are a great bow, I have about 6 in the stable.

Carroll sold the company to PSE at some point.

I think they can use the Wing P2 limbs.

Early 70's from the Mod Squad Generation. FITA was very big in the College Circuit and the Lewis Carroll was a big contender. I owned a bow identical to Don's and it was very stable, smooth pulling and accurate!

The broadheads were done by C.F.Carroll, different guy.
Carrolls Little Old Broadhead
Missile Spike
Red Fury

Larry, your comment on the shooting qualities of the bow are right on. In fact, that is why PSE bought the company in the late 1980s (they were particularly enamored with the forgiving nature of the bow, especially the grip). They wanted to adapt the riser for a compound bow, but it was not strong enough. So, they had to make more extensive changes (including to the grip) and finally brought out their Carroll compound model in 1989 (as I recall).

sorry i haven't replied to all of you, but i have been away from the computer for awhile...
thanks for all the info, and the great picture! i'd wear those pants!!
i'd need to find a different pair, since i don't have a 20" waist...

the upper limb says "Lewis"
would that be someone's personal decal? or the model???
