I picked up a LH 64" 1960 Kodiak that was in dire need of a face lift. A few coats of Minwax Wipe-on clear poly, Al's decals ,wet sanded and rewriting the info with a Prismacolor Gold Pen that just came in the mail. This weekend I hope to add several more coats of clear and finish it off with a new side plate, one of Trap's feather rest, then try my skill at a leather grip.

Looking Good Roy!!!
Nice Work.

Nice job indeed, she looks like new!

Roy
Looks Great! Did you strip it all the way down? I'm in the process of working on a 59 that needs strike plate, feather rest and new grip. I have some holes to repair but the finish is about 60% and really not that bad. I'm thinking of a light sand and then several coats of wipe on poly.

Larry,
I did strip this one all the way down. Looks like I may need some spray-on poly to shoot over the serial numbers to seal them up, as when I tried the wipe-on over them they wanted to smear off.

Looking good Roy.

Dang, with wood like that I would probably leave off a leather grip which would just cover up that nice grain.
-
How about some more pics!? That is a nice looking one for sure.... Good tip on the wipe on issue over the lettering as I'm heading in that direction.
-
nice job...ol' Fred would be proud....

I have not had an issue with the wipe-on over lettering. I used acrylic paint on the last one, applied with a caligropher's pen. No smear. I did let it dry overnight.
Great looking bow Roy!

A few completed pics, the bow arrived without a leather grip, and no traces of barge cement, so I'll just enjoy the great wood grain and not install a grip.

Very Nice Roy!
The wipe on poly with wet sanding and the final polish really makes that grain POP.
