I am flying to Texas at the end of February. I might be able to get some hog hunting in while I am visiting my sister. Just was wondering if it would be better to ship my longbow or take it on the plane with me? If I take it on the plane I was going to make a tube out of PVC. Any Advice??

Me, I'd ship it. In the PVC tube. USPS. Insured.
Me too. I would ship it in a PVC tube with the arrows you want to have with you. With all the hassle of flying these days the less you carry the better.
When I would visit my brother in Mass I would mailed to him my fishing poles and tackle box.I would ship less chance of it getting lost by the airlines and you would be suprised at how much luggage gets lost. And some times they never find it,ship it and insure it.

It's been a while since I've flown with my longbows. In fact, coming back from Alaska right after 9/11 was the last time. Always flew my longbows and arrows in checked PVC tubes. Never had a problem, but might be better to send them ahead in today's world.
Depends on the airline. NO to America West/US Airways.
I have flown many times with fishing rods in a Plano pvc case. Never a problem. I even returned from NC with rods and hickory staves in the case.
This is what I use:

When I go out of state hunting, I ship my bow in pvc pipe to my buddy's house, that way I don't have to deal with it on the plane or going thru security at the airport!
