Title: Darton Fury

This is a Darton Fury, that I bought in 1972, after my Super Kodiak's lower limb colasped, got it because it felt and shot a lot like my SK. I am trying to find more info on the bow , ie; string lenght , brace height. I've contacted Darton and checked their website but they are missing the catalogs years that I'm looking for. In 1975 Darton had two Furys one was exactly oppisite of mine, black penolic away from the archer and wood to the archer. Can anyone tell me more about this bow? And yes this is a recent photo, the bow is in super condition.

As a rule of thumb, the actual string lenth shpold be about 3" shorter than what is marked on the side of the bow.  In yourcase, for a 60" bow, you would need a 47" string.

Any string maker can make the proper string  for it as long as they know the stated bow length and the draw weight.

Hey, Jack...3" from 60" would be 57" not 47", right?

Anyway, I believe AMO standards say a string on a recurve would be 4" shorter (which would be 56").  A longbow string would be 3" shorter.  

To be sure, measure nock to nock by laying the tape measure flat against the belly (side facing the shooter).

That's a nice looking bow.  Master bowyer Ron Pittsley of Hunters Niche once worked for Darton and may be able to provide details about the bow...but that's just a hunch on my part.

We've tried a AMO string, 4 inches shorter, but that left us with a very high brace, 9 1/2", then tried a 58" string, and twisted the snot out of it till we got the brace to 8 1/4, still not right,probably because its so twisted. So it's somewhere around a 57 in string, but would really like to know the recomended brace height of the bow, The catalog for 1975 shows the 60" Fury ( the mirror image of mine) with a 57" string and a brace of 8 1/4 to 9 1/4. Will make a 57" string as soon as I get all the parts I need for my string jig.
Does anyone know if Dartons can be dated from their serial numbers? Was this bow the the 83rd Fury made in 1971? The bow shoots as nice as its looks. As I said I got it to replace a 1967 Super Kodiak, because this bow felt as nice at the shot but was a bit faster than the SK, I did'nt care for the 72 SKs. Thanks to all.

I have never seen a darton like that. Can we see the entire bow profile please? It looks sweet.
Darton is Still going strong after all these years.

We did call Darton, and unfortunatlly, we knew more than they did about that bow, they could only refer us to their catalog page, and my bow falls in the years that they are missing the catalogs for, 1970- 1974.
