I'm thinking Jeff Massie out of Shiner Texas. Made some very nice bows in the 90's. I had heard he was having some health issues a while back and that he had sold the business.

Larry is right, and I believe Jim Belcher is now making a copy of the Massie Longhorn.

A friend has an original and I've been trying to trade him out of it for years.  It's a 64", 50#, r/d, and one of the smoothest and most accurate longbows...and it's plenty fast too.

They are fine bows. Massie was really good and Belcher is at least that good....I don't think his is a copy, but a takeover of the line from Massie.  I've had both and they're darn respectable performers.  Give it a good try with a skinny string....I think you'll find it's a winner.

I shot a Massie Longhorn maybe 10 years ago while Jeff was still making bows it was outstanding-perhaps the best I have shot wish Ida' been quicker to open my wallet!

Jim Belcher told me at the Texas State Longbow Shoot when he came down that Jeff Massie and himself had designed the longhorn together years ago.  Jeff ran with the design then, when Massie quit building Jim took the design to continue with the production of the longhorn.  One of the best D/R out there, I think.  I shoot a 66" bow in a Hill style and in this bow 64" shot way better.
